Creatives vs AI - what the Hollywood writers strike means for creatives everywhere

What do the two upcoming “Avengers” movies,“Deadpool 3”, a host of US talkshows and the new season of Euphoria,” “House of the Dragon,” “Hacks” and “The White Lotus,” all have in common? Well thanks to the Hollywood writers strike their release dates were all kicked into 2025 and beyond or removed from the release calendar altogether.
At its core, this strike represents more than just labor disputes; it symbolizes the struggle for creative rights, fair compensation, and recognition of the indispensable role writers play in crafting compelling narratives in the age of ChatGPT.
The tentative deal reached on 25/09/2023 outlines limitations on how AI can be used in writers’ rooms. AI cannot be used to write or rewrite scripts, and AI-generated writing cannot be considered source material, which prevents writers from losing out on writing credits due to AI.
On an individual level, writers can choose to use AI tools if they so desire. However, a company cannot mandate that writers use certain AI tools while working on a production. Studios must also tell writers if they are given any AI-generated materials to incorporate into a work. [LINK]

The introduction of the AI Pin aims to redefine personal computing, potentially allowing users to leave their smartphones at home, similar to the concept behind LTE-enabled smartwatches. The overall hype around Humane and its AI Pin is significant, but the real impact and success of the device will be more apparent after its official unveiling

ChatGPT is soon going to be let loose on post 2021 content - what does this mean for accessing information and the browser wars:
Both OpenAI's ChatGPT, and Google’s competing chatbot Bard, are set to access recent news, shifting from its past model where they drew on only pre-September 2021 data.
But paying ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users can now get “current and authoritative information” in answers from the chatbot and this will be expanded to all users “soon”. OpenAI also promised to provide “direct links to sources”.
The change will mean users can ask ChatGPT questions relating to current affairs, with answers likely trained on content from news publishers across the world who will lose out on traffic if people find out what they want to know without ever having to go to the original source. It could prove an extension of the rise in “zero click searches” in which search engine results pages give users the answers they want directly without them needing to click through to articles that may have originated the information.
